Stem Cell Information Kit
Biotechnology Australia's Public Awareness Section has assembled an information kit containing publicly available information on stem cells to help the public access key facts on stem cell research and related issues. It also contains the key recommendations of the Lockhart Review into Australia's Prohibition of Human Cloning Act 2002 and the Research Involving Human Embryos Act 2002.
Meeting of the Minds Booklet
The 'Meeting of the Minds' forum on agricultural biotechnology was held in Canberra on 22 July 2005, to
map the views of those for and against genetically modified crops and to develop models that could be
applied for the introduction of any future GM crops.
What you really need to know about what the public really thinks about GM foods
The purpose of this report is to better explain the complexity of consumer attitudes towards GM foods.
Australia's Biotechnology Capabilities
Australia's Biotechnology Capabilities (ABC) provides- for the first time - a picture of key areas of capability in biotechnology at a national level. It was produced by the Biotechnology Liaison Committee (BLC) which is chaired by Biotechnology Australia, (an Australian Government agency) and made up of officials from each State and Territory.
Public Awareness Research 2005 Overview
Biotechnology Australia is an Australian Government agency responsible for managing the National Biotechnology Strategy. The Public Awareness Program is one of the initiatives implemented under this strategy. Its aim is to provide members of the community with the information they need to make more informed choices regarding the adoption of biotechnologies.
The primary aim of this project was to update and develop understanding of the public's awareness of, attitudes towards and concerns about different applications of biotechnology, and the ways in which these drive public acceptance.
Public Awareness Research 2005: Stem Cells
The rapid developments and advances in biotechnology mean that attitudes and acceptance relating to stem cells are likely to change over time. It is important that these changes and explored and understood. To track these changes, research on behalf of Biotechnology Australia has been conducted every two years since 1999. This report provides details on the 2005 research conducted by Eureka Strategic Research.
Public Awareness Research 2005: Regulation
Biotechnology Australia's Public Awareness Program aims to provide members of the community with the information they need to make more informed choices regarding the adoption of biotechnologies. This section of the study looked at regulation, and the public's perception of regulators.
Public Awareness Research 2005: Cloning
Biotechnology Australia's Public Awareness Program aims to provide members of the community with the information they need to make more informed choices regarding the adoption of biotechnologies. This section of the study looked at regulation, and the public's attitudes on cloning.
